Video: Realistic Mixed Media River Rocks

Hi friends! Lydia here with a REALLY fun transformation for you today.

Do you ever look at a stencil and only see the shapes? I'm going to help you break out of that today with a multi-step process for transforming the beautiful new  Pebbles and Stones stencil.

This stencil looks simple, but the second I saw it I was reminded of this incredible watercolor artist. I lived in Maine for a summer after college and found these incredibly realistic paintings of the rocks on the beaches in Maine and they've never left my head. So I decided to try it with ink!

I started with Root Beer  Reactive Ink and the stencil printing technique to create a watery background. Then I flipped the stencil and used a combination of ink blending with Granite Cornflower and Wet Cement  ink with various sizes of Hero Arts Blending Brushes

Next, I splattered the whole thing with various sized paintbrushes and Root Beer and Granite inks that I watered down.

I finished the card with the die from the  Greetings From Stamp & Cut  set.

I love this so much. I hope you do too!

One tip – and I talk about this in the video – it's going to be important to heat set it a few times throughout this process to preserve each layer.

Here's the video! Enjoy!
