Hello friends! It’s Channin here and today I’m demonstrating a very cool ink trapping technique with the new March My Monthly Hero Kit ! Watch the video below to see how I create bold and vibrant splatters over a black background without using several different embossing powders.
(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please watch HERE on YouTube.)
To create this card I first started with an A2 panel of Dove White cardstock, one of the splatter stamps from the March My Monthly Hero Kit and a stamp positioning tool like a MISTI . I then inked up half the splatter with Fruit Punch Reactive Ink , stamped, then inked up the other half with Creamsicle Reactive Ink and stamped. This creates a two-toned ombre splatter.
Next, I cleaned the stamp and then inked it up in Clear Embossing & Watermark ink and stamped it directly over the two-toned splatter. I then poured clear embossing powder over the splatter and heat set it with my heat tool. Next, I repeated this process to stamp three more splatters, using two Reactive Iks for each splatter ( Lemon Drop and Key Lime Fizz , Pool Party and Blue Hawaii , Grape Slush and Taffy ).
When I had finished stamping and clear heat embossing all the splatters I then trimmed the panel down to 3 1/2” x 4 3/4”. Next, I ink blended over the panel with INTENS-ified Black Ink . Once I had finished ink blending the panel I wiped the heat-embossed splatters clean with a dry cloth. Next, I adhered an A2 panel of Pitch Black cardstock to the front of a A2 top-folding white card base. Then I adhered the splatter panel to the card front with foam adhesive.
Next, I stamped and black heat-embossed a sentiment onto Dove White cardstock. I then finished the card by fussy cutting the sentiment out and then adhering it to the card front with foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card and video! Thank you so much for stopping by!
