Hello there, Michelle here and today I have a bookmark to share with you created using the new Slimline & Bookmarks Infinity Dies. These dies work perfectly for creating slimline card layers, bookmarks and also the smallest of the layers are perfect for die cutting sentiment strips too. They are extremely versatile! Today, I thought I would create a bookmark.
I started off by die cutting the main bookmark. I took one of the middle sized layers from the Slimline & Bookmarks Infinity Dies and die cut it from Pitch Black carstock. There is a little die in the set that cuts the hole for the bookmark but I wanted to do something different, so I cut the hole using the second smallest die from the Nesting Hearts Infinity Die Set.
I then die cut the Stacked Books Fancy Die from Dove White cardstock. I also cut it from printer/scrap paper to use as a mask. I wanted to ink blend the books in rainbow colours (since I knew I was going to create a rainbow tassel and wanted them to match somewhat) but I wanted the pages to be left white so that I could colour them later. What I did was mask off the different sections of the book, including the pages, with the piece that I cut from scrap paper. I just cut the sections out and placed them over the cardstock piece with removable adhesive. Then I could ink blend the books and remove the masks as I went.
Once the books were ink blended with Reactive Inks - I used Taffy, Fruit Punch, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, Pool Party, Blue Raspberry, Splash, Blue Hawaii, Purple Galaxy and Thistle, I coloured the pages with Copic markers. It was then adhered flat to the bookmark with Precision Glue.
I took the bookworms from the Bookworm Messages set and stamped them on to white cardstock with Intens-ified Black Ink. They were coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut out with scissors. They were adhered to the bookmark with more Precision Glue. I also die cut some hearts from Pitch Black cardstock and added them to the bookmark too for some added interest.
To finish off, I added Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen to the bookworm's eyes and then made a tassel for the bookmark using the rainbow hemp cord included in the March My Monthly Hero Kit.
This bookmark was so much fun to make. It would work well with many different images but remember, you can use the dies for layers on slimline cards too! Thank you so much for stopping by today. Happy stamping!
