May My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!
Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the May My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, May 7th at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. Now let's join Emily who is sharing the first look at this lovely kit.
Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you to share some inspiration using this beautiful, versatile May My Monthly Hero kit! I love how the kits come with so many bits and pieces that you can create a HUGE variety of projects. For my project today, I wanted to use the stunningly detailed main swing frame Fancy Die included in the kit with a little Copic coloring. You can create some really beautiful cards with just the die cut, but I love to color, and I wanted to take it up a notch. This die cut reminds me of the illustrations found in Winnie the Pooh or Peter Rabbit books. So pretty!
I started by die cutting the large oval swing frame fancy die from some white card stock. I then used my Copic markers to add some color to the tree, leaves, and swing. Because the die is a silhouette, you have to use your imagination a little when adding your color, but I was pleased with the somewhat dreamy, storybook feel. I bet this would look beautiful done in watercolors, too! For the background, I added a bit of blue sky using some of the gorgeous Reactive Ink, which is one of this month's add-ons. It blends SO beautifully. I just placed my oval die cut frame approximately where I wanted it on my white card front to get an idea of where the blue sky would stop (I wanted to make sure that my blending didn't go beyond the edges of the die cut), then used the reactive blue ink with my blending tool to create a soft summer sky.
After I'd finished my blending, I stamped the lovely sentiment from the main kit's 6" x 8" stamp set onto a rectangle of white card stock using Intense Black ink, then adhered it to the oval frame and trimmed around the edge so that it was flush with the oval frame. I popped everything up with foam tape for lots of texture and dimension!

This frame die looks fabulous colored with comics. Great card. I just love the little swing in the trees. I’m excited that that I’m be able to put some cards together pretty fast using this die because it is so detailed you really don’t need a whole lot more on your card.

Beautiful card! I hope I can figure out how to get this frame die to cut better than last month’s though. I tried different plates….a new set….metal shim and then a friend’s machine. It just isn’t cutting all the way around?!

Love the beautiful tree outline on this die, it creates a very ‘peaceful’ spring scene, which promises good things are coming. The lovely shape of the tree draws the eye in to the scene. Am excited to see the next card and can’t wait to see the kit.

This frame die is so nostalgic! My mind wandered to simpler times when all we had to do was sit on our swing and enjoy the sounds of the day and seeing how high we could go. What fun! And a beautiful card, too!

Love the card, I thought the same thing, it look very storybook and at any moment a storybook character was going to walk out and sit on that swing. Oh, I am so ready for a kit. I always love the fancy frames. Cant wait so see the whole release. Saw the green paper and thought Spring. Now a swing.. it has to be spring flowers! Thank goodness spring has sprung!

I am in LOVE with that gorgeous tree with swing die! It reminds me of a weeping willow tree we had in our yard at a house when I was a little girl! Thanks for the great memories!!

Love the swing on the tree and your use of copic colors. The foam also really brings the image up and draws the eye in. This card invokes a sense of peace and smell of summer for me. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the kit contains!
