Heart-Shaped Sentiments for Valentine Cards

Dec 26, 2017 Jayne Nelson

If you are lucky enough to be on vacation today, perhaps you'd like to make some valentine cards. I'm sharing a pair of cards that feature several of the new, heart-shaped sentiment stamps. I really like how these love themed stamps can be paired with a heart die to create fun, sentiment panels for anniversary, wedding and valentine cards.

To make my first card, I started by creating a square card base from aubergine layering paper and then adding a slightly smaller, square panel of white cardstock to the card's center. Next, I cut a square of lilac layering paper, stamped it with the versatile Love Is Love Bold Prints background using Orchid ink, and die cut a small heart, with one of the Nesting Hearts Infinity Dies, near the panel's center. Before securing this panel to the card base with foam tape, I embossed the tiny Be Mine Message onto a piece of iris layering paper and positioned it behind the heart-shaped window.

I wanted to use more of the cute, heart-shaped sentiments on my cards, so I stamped the Three Tiny Hearts directly onto the stamped background with black ink and then colored them with a colored pencil. I also added two additional die cut hearts, embossed with the XOXO and Hugs and Kisses stamps. If you'd prefer a different sentiment, there are two more heart sentiment stamps that are equally wonderful, the Love You Message and the With Love Message.

Next, I stamped a pair of fish from the I'm A Puffer For You set, colored them with colored pencils, and then cut around them with the Puffer Frame Cuts. For extra dimension, I secured them to the card with foam tape. To finish this valentine, I scattered a few Ombre Purple sequins across the front.

By simply changing the positions of the hearts and the fish, and then coloring the fish differently, I was able to quickly create a second, similar card. I hope that you give these sweet, little sentiments another look - I'm looking forward to using mine all year. Wouldn't they also be great stamped on the back of an envelope?

Wishing you a wonderful day and a very crafty week! Thanks so much,
