I love creating with Hero Arts Color Layering stamp sets and ombre inks as the colors of ink in these have been carefully selected and always work so great together for Color Layering (among other things).

However, sometimes I want to alter the colors of the ink slightly, for example make the final image a bit lighter, but I don't always have the right shade of ink to do that (and I don't think anyone has, after all there are only so many ink colors and shades out there). Luckily, there are a few useful techniques and tricks that we can employ to manipulate the colors of our stamped images. Keep on reading to learn how!

Today I'm working with [hero_product_link sku="CL956" text="Color Layering Sea Horse"] and [hero_product_link sku="AF313" text="Purple Ombre Ink"] to create my card. I'm also using [hero_product_link sku="AF249" text="Unicorn White"] in several different ways to manipulate the colors of dye inks and get new colors for my project.

If you'd like to re-create the card shared in this blog post begin by stamping the seahorse image using the Purple Ombre ink pad. The ink pad sections are a bit smaller than the seahorse layers, but you can still ink them up. Use lightest color for the base layer; before stamping the middle layer in purple first stamp it in Unicorn White pigment ink, clean your stamp and double stamp this layer using the middle ink color from the purple ombre pad. This will lighten the color make the overall image appear lighter. Finish stamping by adding the 3rd layer using the darkest purple.

White pigment ink can also be used as a top layer, the yellow round sea shell was only stamped in [hero_product_link sku="AF207" text="Butter Bar ink"], Unicorn White was used for the top layer. The star fish was stamped using [hero_product_link sku="AF208" text="Bubble Gum ink"] for the base layer, muted with White and stamped with [hero_product_link sku="AF263" text="Ultra Pink ink"] for the top layer.

You might also notice the seahorse, shells and star fish images all have beautiful top coat to them. [hero_product_link sku="PW105" text="Sparkle Embossing Powder"]  was used to achieve this look. It adds a nice no-shed layer of glitter and makes the images appear magical.

All of the stamped images were die cut using [hero_product_link sku="DI185" text="matching dies"] and foam mounted onto a [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white cardstock panel"]. I stamped a sentiment and several air bubbles using [hero_product_link sku="AF101" text="Black ink"] and adhered a few clear sequins to finish making this card.
