It is hard to believe that the holidays are literally just around the corner…in a little over two months. How is your holiday card making going? Make sure you join in the current Hero Arts challenge: Holiday Cards! Here’s one that I designed especially for the challenge:
One of my favorite color combos is pale blue and red. It’s an awesome duo because it can be used for everyday cards to Valentine’s Day to the holidays!
I love the Hero Arts background stamps, they are a generous 6×6 in size but that doesn’t mean you need to use that much of the pattern. On today’s card I used a 3/4 inch portion of the Dot Moire Bold Prints. I stamped it in Unicorn Pigment Ink onto Kraft Paper. I layered a Snow panel on top.
Using my circle and pinking circle dies, I cut up various circles using a Starbucks Coffee Sleeve, Blush Layering Papers and Sea Layering Papers. Have you seen Kelly Purkey’s S'no Problem set?! It is chock full of fun images and sentiments. I picked out two of the snowflakes and heat embossed them onto the Sea panels. I decided on the Yuletide Joy as my sentiment and heat embossed that in white also onto a Blush layer.
I adore texture on my cards and love the look of corrugated cardboard. Since the circles are just shy of 1.5 inches in diameter, I used a Starbucks coffee sleeve for them rather than using cardboard from a packing box which has much larger corrugated ‘waves’.
What are some of your favorite holiday card color combos? Do you mass produce one or two designs or prefer to make all your cards different? In my earlier days I mass produced one design. I literally had no fun making those cards…repetition is not my forte. These days I try to make most of my holiday cards in the latter half of October and all of November.
Thanks so much for stoppin’ by!
