Video: Round Card and Decorated Envelope

Hello everyone! It’s Sandy Allnock from Operation Write Home – back on the Hero Arts blog to share some new stamps with you, and some fun masking and watercoloring!

OWH is a charity that sends beautiful blank handmade greeting cards to deployed service members, so they can keep in touch with their families back home. There’s no Hallmark store in many of their locations, so it’s up to us to help them out! We send cards all year long – but we focus on five year-round themes: love, missing you, thank you, birthday, and thinking of you. We do a few of the big holidays; our next deadlines are:

  • Easter: Feb 28
  • Mother’s Day: March 31
  • Father’s Day: April 30

We’re so very grateful for our Hero Arts partnership; the two organizations work so well together on brainstorming awesome stamps to use on cards for our service members. This new release, shown recently at CHA, is no exception! The card I made features the Envelope Art set, and matches it up with The Fox Says from the fall release. In the video I’ll show you how to do some quick masking to create a “mama and baby” image that you can apply to your other cute Hero Arts stamp sets too! And just look at how cute they are on the envelope, too!

I made a round card – I just love shaped cards, they’re so different from the “normal” cards we make all the time, so they feel really special. This one fakes the outer scallop of color and it’s so easy to assemble – watch the video below or click HERE to check it out over on YouTube!

When creating a round card – or any crazy-shaped one that tumbles over – try cutting a small slice off the back of the card base, shown below. That’ll keep your card standing up! And be sure to decorate those envelopes…how cute is this?
