Sweet & Simple Kindness

Today is all about sweet, simple kindness. An act of kindness need not be elaborate to be appreciated. Even a single chocolate chip cookie can brighten someone’s day!

Cookie Package

Inspired by Jennifer McGuire’s Share Handmade Kindness Challenge, I’ve created cookie pouches to hand out this week. Week 3 of the challenge is all about kids (giving to them or making with them), so I enlisted the help of my youngest daughter. We baked a double batch of chocolate chips cookies and then set to work packaging them in a cute way. The basic pouch is very easy to create. Let me show you how…

To start, you’ll need four cardstock circles of the same size. Mine measure 3.5 inches in diameter. Keep in mind — the larger the circles, the larger the finished package will be. Fold each circle in half and then arrange them as shown in the photo below. Secure at the center with tape.

Stamp on the flaps. I stamped a small heart from the Acts of Kindness set repeatedly and heat embossed the hearts using Brass embossing powder. Wrap a cookie in waxed paper and place it inside, folding the four flaps over it. Set aside.

To create a colorful tag, swipe dye ink cubes onto a piece of white cardstock. I left them intentionally streaky, but you could also use a sponge for a more blended look. Die cut or trim to the shape of a tag. Stamp the message onto the tag and white heat emboss. Stamp a few more hearts and emboss with brass powder.

To finish, wrap a band of vellum and washi tape around the pouch. Tie on the tag with baker’s twine and your cookie package is complete!

It’s a small thing, but I hope it will make the recipients smile. It isn’t about the cookie. It isn’t about the tag. It isn’t about the little gold hearts. It’s about sharing and kindness. It’s as sweet and simple as that. ♥

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
