Mariko’s Travel Album

Please join us in welcoming special guest Mariko Brown to the blog today! We’re thrilled to have her here to share some scrapbooking inspiration. Take it away, Mariko!

Hi, everyone. It’s Mariko here. Today I am sharing some of the travel album pages that I made using the photos from my trip to San Francisco and the Bay Area. I finished a 50-page, 6×8 inch, pocket-style scrapbooking album entirely with the Clearly Kelly collection.

Kelly Purkey has been my idol as long as I’ve been scrapbooking. I love everything she designs. Her choice of colors, fonts, words and phrases… everything is inspiring! I am particularly happy about her new collection because it well features her specialty, food and travel.

Here’s the title card I made with her Outline Letters, Destination, and Daily Life clear stamp sets.

Outline letters are so fun to play with. I used them to spell the names of the places I visited during the trip along with the border from Super Cool and the geo tag from Happy Place throughout the album.

The cute little car is a must-have stamp for a road trip album.

This is my favorite background stamp, Kelly’s Background Stars, of all three in the collection. I am very pleased with the crispness of the lines with white ink on dark colored cardstock.

The shape of the heart in the Happy Place wood stamp set is so cute that I couldn’t resist using it throughout the album.

The hearts are everywhere!

Another favorite background stamp of mine, Kelly’s Background Squares, is used here. I love Pale Tomato Shadow Ink on Carnation Layering Paper. And more hearts!

The “good morning” stamp from Live Big is perfect for a breakfast page. Making a pattern from a small phrase by stamping repeatedly is a technique that I learned from Kelly.

It’s a tedious job, but it worth the effort! “Food coma” is layered with a circle stamp found in Outline Letters — another technique Kelly taught in her class.

Thanks Kelly for a great collection, and Hero Arts for partnering with her!
