As much as I like using nontraditional colors for some of my holiday cards, I really love making cards with the traditional red and green colors of Christmas. When I saw the new CL881 Joy To The World stamp set, I was inspired to create another traditional holiday element for my card, a large Christmas tree.
Using the tall, triangle stamp, I stamped four triangles with black ink into the shape of an evergreen tree. Since the stamps are clear, it was very easy to align the triangles. I also stamped the star from this set onto the top of the tree. When my ink dried completely, I used markers to color both the tree and the star.
I adhered the stamped panel to a piece of dark green layering paper. Then, I embossed a small sentiment, also from the CL881 Joy To The World set, onto red layering paper. I added a piece of vellum behind the sentiment strip and then adhered it to my card with foam tape. Next, I used the CG681 Candy Stripe Bold Prints background to stamp a decorative red strip that I added along the side of the Christmas tree. To finish my card, I wrapped it with a small twine bow, and for a little Christmas sparkle, I added a piece of glittered snow and a single, yellow gem to the center of the star.
Wishing you a wonderful week,
