Hey hey, it’s Lisa here today. Have you all heard the news? Pantone announced their 2015 color of the year: marsala. Love it when they announce the new color, it’s like Christmas comes early. Have a look:

While I’ll always love my gold metallic, marsala looks like a nice rich copper color — I couldn’t wait to play! It also made me want to dig out my Hero Arts Artprint Brown ink — haven’t played with that in forever. Last but not least, my assignment was to use some of the new stamps from the BasicGrey + Hero Arts J’Adore collection from the Valentine’s Day 2015 release.
Here’s how it all came together! I wanted to keep it simple to keep the focus on the colors.
I started out by stamping the Deco Flower Background (CG657) on a pool notecard with pigment ink and then I heat embossed it with copper powder. Next I stamped “hello love” from the Hello Love set (CL828) in cornflower, fresh peach, ocean, artprint brown and ultra pink. I got the idea for the colors from the Pantone site — they have some great color pairings HERE. (Looks like they even recommend gold! yay!)
I thought it needed a little something, so copper embossed another hello love, then trimmed one that I’d stamped in artprint brown and used the copper one as a frame. Here’s a closeup so you can see it better:
So, what do you think of marsala? I’d love to hear! xo
