Hello! Today I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made with the new Paintbrush Trees wood stamp set. This charming set includes three evergreen trees that are portrayed in an abstract, brushstroke style. These stylized silhouettes are perfect for creating both classic and contemporary holiday cards and gift tags.
To create my card, I started by repeatedly stamping each of the Paintbrush Trees across a panel of watercolor cardstock. Before stamping each tree, I inked the image with green Distress Ink (Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, or Lucky Clover) and then sprayed the ink with enough water to move the ink on the stamp. If you prefer, you could also paint watercolors directly onto the stamps with a brush for similar results. After the stamped panel dried, I wrapped it three times with natural twine, tied a small bow along the left edge and then secured the panel to a green folded notecard with foam tape.
Next, I cut a circle of green layering paper and then embossed one of the Paintbrush Trees onto the circle with Brass Embossing Powder. I love how the metallic detail adds some unexpected sparkle to the monochromatic design. I embossed a Merry Christmas sentiment from the Vintage Christmas Post set onto a narrow strip of brown cardstock and layered it over the tree. After securing the circle to the card with foam tape, I added a trio of scattered, earth-toned pearls.
Have you looked at the new wood stamps in the 2016 Winter Catalog recently? There are sure to be a few that you adore!
Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful week,
