World Card Making Day + a giveaway!

Hello stampers! Today we are celebrating one of our very favorite holidays on the crafty calendar each year - World Card Making Day! We plan to spend our day getting inky, and we hope you will too! There are so many great places to join the card making party online today, but the best place to start (once you're done here, of course!) is the Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking blog. We are proud to be one of the many sponsors of their incredible WCMD giveaway!

We also always love to join our friends at Operation Write Home for their WCMD celebration! This year's theme is "love" - visit their blog and consider creating a card or two to send to our heroes overseas! A few of our fabulous design team members are here today, sharing love-themed cards. First up is Donna, with a beautiful card featuring Written in the Stars! "It's easy to send LOVE across the miles using Written in the Stars with its fun constellation images and sentiments. I chose the heart and white embossed it on watercolor paper, then went over it with several watered down Distress inks. The sentiment was double stamped—first with Archival ink, and then white embossed for a “shadow” appearance. As a finishing touch, I added some gems and star sequins."

Next is a pretty card from Mariana. She used one of our sets which benefits Operation Write Home! "From start to finish, it's always fun to create cards for our loved ones. To create the background for my card, I used two different colors of ink daubers (Pale Tomato and White). I simply put a little bit of the ink on an acrylic block, added a little bit of water, and then used a paint brush to splash the ink on the card front.  I love that even though I have diluted the ink a little bit, the colors are still bright and perfect! I also created a cluster of different elements as the focal point using two pretty sets: Year Round Sentiments and Airmail. I like when you can play with layers and dimension!  The final touches were some gems and pearls, as well as some Glossy Accents details."

And finally, a fun and versatile card from Cheiron. We love how the letters of the message inspired the letters of her background! "I wanted to make a simple love card that would work for a variety of recipients. This card could be romantic, for a family member, friend or even a kiddo!  The background was made using letters from the Stencil Alphabet (except the "U" of course!). I took a large acrylic block and arranged the letters randomly on it and stamped with Green Hills ink. Then I took a few of the letters off the block and stamped them separately to fill in the pattern. This simple design would be an easy one to recreate...perfect to create a few for friends and family while creating one to send to Operation Write Home!"

And what's a card making holiday without a giveaway, right? We have a prize pack up for grabs, featuring a few of the supplies our team used today. Just leave a comment by Monday, October 6 at 11:59 PST, and we'll announce our winner next week.
