Valentine Coaster Cards

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to introduce you to a fun new Hero Arts product that can be found at the tail end of the 2015 Spring Catalog -- coasters! These are sold in packages of 15 and are offered in two fun designs that you can further decorate with stamped touches. They're perfect for parties, of course, but can also be used in lots of other creative ways. For today's project, I'll actually be using the Dotted Design Coaster Pack (below left) to create some quick and easy Valentine's Day cards.

I'm a big fan of shaped cards and thought these pre-printed coasters would make cute card bases when glued together. The coasters are nice and heavy in weight, but not so heavy that they can't be scored and folded. To create a hinge, simply score a line approximately 1/2" from the top of one coaster and fold. Apply adhesive above the fold and attach it to a second coaster. Voila! A heavy duty circle card, ready to embellish. The inside is a lovely cream, since the back of the coaster is that color. Here's a look at the back side of the card showing the hinge...

I stamped the "love you" heart from this Stamp & Cut set onto white cardstock with pink and red inks, then popped them onto the cards along with a few gold embossed accents. To create the gold arrow and the extra dots around the edges, I used a Versamark pen and gold embossing powder. Super simple!

Grab a pack or two and you'll be able to create cute mini cards for any occasion in a matter of minutes! Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!
