MMH Countdown to Creativity

We are back with our third day of ideas for using our December My Monthly Hero kit and add-ons, leading up to the release on Monday, December 5th at 1pm eastern/10am pacific. We’ve been sharing ideas for using the main kit and the optional add-on products all weekend! In this post, Jayne introduces us to two, optional add-on items, a Stamp & Cut set and a celebration stamp set, that can be used together to create festive New Year’s cards for family and friends!

I love making and sending New Year’s cards. I use them to write thank-you notes for holiday kindness and to send wishes for a wonderful year! So when I saw the new, add-on set, DC203 Happy New Year Stamp & Cut, I knew that I’d be using it with some of my favorite stamps from the new, add-on set, CM123 Birthday Celebration, to make a few, fun cards! I started by heat embossing a sentiment, with the year, onto a black cardstock panel. I love that the Happy New Year Stamp & Cut set includes several stamps for creating specific years! I also embossed several “stars” from the Birthday Celebration set above the sentiment for a bit of New Year’s sparkle! Wouldn’t these stars be beautiful in silver or gold?

Next, I stamped a collection of circle layering stamps from the Birthday Celebration set. There are four circle stamps, in two sizes, that are solid and lined images. These stamps can be stamped in color layers, or they can be stamped alone to create a wonderful confetti-filled background. I randomly stamped these circles across a white panel with Soft Purple, Dusty Blue, and Mint Julep inks. I cut the panel into two pieces, secured them to the sentiment panel with foam tape, and then wrapped the panel with silver ribbon. I inked three pieces of cardstock with the same three ink colors and then stamped a clock onto each piece. After using the coordinating die to cut each clock, I secured them to the card with foam tape, added a few clear gems, and attached the completed design to a purple card.
