Today we’re teaming up with our friends at BasicGrey! Two of our designers, Kelly Rasmussen and Cheiron Brandon, have made some fabulous projects using a combination of coordinating stamps, stencils, papers and embellishments from the BasicGrey Prism and Adrift collections. Two more designers are doing the same over on the BasicGrey blog. And we’re BOTH offering full collection giveaways! Ready to be inspired and enter for a chance to win? Here we go!
First up is Kelly with the Prism collection. She shares:
I love the all the pretty colors of the Prism Alphabet Stickers, but for this card I decided to use in them in a non-traditional way — as a mask! I masked off a 3/4-inch opening across the middle of a grey piece of cardstock and used a t-ruler to perfectly line up the letters and spell out my message. Then I applied VersaMark ink over the entire strip and white embossed the area. Once it was completely cooled, I very carefully removed the alphabet stickers and was left with a unique message to take center stage on my card. Next, I covered my sentiment area with a strip of masking paper and began stamping the flower borders. I used images from both the Spending Time With You and Shine Bright clear stamp sets along with various Hero Arts Mid-Tone Shadow Inks.
This card features one of the gorgeous Printed Kraft Tags from the Prism collection. To enhance the message a bit, I traced over the letters with a Sakura Clear Glaze Gel Pen, which gives it an embossed look. Behind the tag, I stamped the Triangle Background with black pigment ink on a strip of white cardstock and clear heat embossed the image. Then I used a Squeezed Lemonade Distress marker to color in a few of the open triangles and bring in some of the yellow color from the tag. To finish off the card I brought in a couple of transparency embellishments and a strip of blue patterned paper from the Prism 6×6 paper pad.
And next we have Cheiron with the Adrift collection:
This card features the Fish Background stamp, I just love it stamped in a gradient of blues. The Hero Arts Mid-Tone Shadow Inks in Pool, Soft Pool and Cornflower coordinate so well with colors in this collection. The ship’s wheel from the Chipboard Shapes used as a sentiment is the perfect accent for the Fish Background. To give it even more dimension, I added a little foam tape behind the chipboard accent. To add contrast to the chipboard, I added some of the coordinating papers from the Adrift 6 x 6 pad. The bright orange strip is a wonderful contrast to the sentiment and the tiny strip of blue patterned paper makes the whole card pop.
What’s more fun than making a wish? Wishing upon a starfish! I mixed some of the fun papers from the Adrift 6 x 6 pad. I first cut a panel of the blue patterned paper and then layered on a piece of the orange stripe paper. The Make a Wish on A Starfish die cut tag is such a fun sentiment for my sea loving friends. Instead of threading the tag with some twine or ribbon, I attached it with a little starfish brad from the Brad and Resin Combo Pack. Isn’t just the cutest?
Thanks to Kelly and Cheiron for the awesome inspiration today!
