Enhance your projects with a bit of flair!
By Shari Carroll

Take your cardmaking to the next level by adding simple accents and flair. This month I'll show you ways to enhance your projects by adding a bit of shine here and a little glitter there.

Instructions:
There are a couple products I'd like to go over that can really help put those dazzling finishing touches on your cards and layouts. They are simple to use and add so much to make a card look polished. Here's a few of my favorites!

Ranger Stickles: This is a liquid form application that dries leaving the glitter well attached to the projects. Apply Stickles at the very last of the design process and set aside to dry. Accent flowers and images with a little or a lot depending on your taste.

It comes in many colors (I like Frosted Lace the most!)

Ranger Glossy Accents: Fantastic product! I use it to highlight portions of my projects that I want to look glossy. It looks wet even when it's dry.

You can also use Glossy Accents as a strong holding glue.

Embossing Powder: By using clear embossing powder, your projects suddenly have texture and a light catching surface. Nice and subtle.

Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel Also known as UTEE, this coarse embossing powder is great for creating durable pieces for your projects. You can stamp into melted enamel leaving you with a relief of your image. Also can be used to make epoxy looking pieces.

Here are a few cards that I've made with my favorite products.

Red Flowers

  1. Mix Distress inks onto the DesignBlock Silhouette stamp (S5033), spritz with water and stamp onto a white panel.
  2. Mount the panel to coordinating cardstock and to a Mocha card.
  3. Use Glossy Accents to highlight areas of the flowers.
  4. Tie with ribbon and secure the bow with a button.

Blue Flower

  1. Mix Distress Inks onto the Scallop Flourish stamp (S5152), spritz with water and stamp onto white cardstock. Trim.
  2. Clear emboss the Flourish DesignBlock (S5034)onto a cut Pool notecard.
  3. Punch a hole into the Scallop, thread ribbon around the card and pull through the hole. Tie a bow.
  4. Apply Stickles to a paper flower, allow to dry. Affix flower and button to the center of the bow.
  5. Apply Glossy Accents and Stickles to the details of the Scallop image. Allow to dry.

Faux Epoxy Sticker

  1. Stamp the circle image (CL275) with Soft Pool Ink onto white cardstock. Punch into a circle. Cover with VersaMark ink, pour on UTEE, heat. Repeat once.
  2. Stamp the flourish (K5232) to the left of a white notecard with Soft Blossom ink.
  3. Affix a paper panel to the right of the card which has been punched using a circle punch (larger than the Faux Epoxy Sticker).
  4. Wrap the card with ribbon, tie a bow.
  5. Adhere the Faux Epoxy Piece in place with foam squares.
  6. Add a flower and pearls to finish.

Thanks and remember to use fine Hero Arts stamps, inks and accessories for your cardmaking and scrapbooking.

Enjoy the process of your art!
