Thanks for sharing things you’ve learned from your stamping friends on Friday’s post!  I used random.org to pick a winner from all of the comments.

And…the winner of the Thanks Set  is…

#147, Chris P, who said on November 21st, 2008 at 6:19 pm:

I learned how to be a better friend from stampers. I started exchanging art, then we started sharing time and techniques, and then started sharing our vacations and families with one another. Some of my closest friendships came stamping!

Congratulations!  We will email you for your mailing address.  Enjoy!

Friday, November 21st, 2008

I am so thankful that I get to share all these great ideas with you. I have learned so many tricks and techniques with fellow stampers and I hope we do the same for you. I always learn something from my students when teaching class.

Here are some more thank you cards in case you want to stamp some over the weekend.

And by the way, my pile of scraps has diminished about one percent. Sounds like I better keep stamping! And in my e-mail this week, a dear friend told me she is sending ME a card with some scrap that I stamped and she has held onto for four years!! Can’t wait to see!

Happy weekend!!

Let’s hammer it out..

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Welcome to Watch It Wednesday!  Today I’ve got more thank you cards that I’ve made from an assortment of my stamped scraps.

One of the “saved” cards I had only needed a stamped greeting. I had previously made a batch of flower and leaf cards that I made from flower printing.  The video I have to share a bit later will help you understand how I did this, if you haven’t seen it before.

Here is the flower printed card, along with another coordinating thank you…

Nature’s beauty is truly amazing…here is a close-up.

Flower pounding is done with a hammer and real flowers. You can use flowers, leaves, vines or anything growing in your yard. There are several books available to inspire you and give detailed instructions. Our video is a very brief introduction into this fun craft.

How’s that for hotel room fun?!  Your neighbors in the hotel room next door may not appreciate late night hammering but the paper towels do help muffle the noise a bit. :)

Be sure to stop back tomorrow, when Shari will announce the winners of last week’s technique challenge.  I will also select the winners of yesterday’s giveaway (you have until 11:59pm PST tonight to enter HERE!)  Then come back on Friday to see even more fun cards and ideas and another giveaway!!

Happy stamping (and hammering!)

Thankful for Goodies!!

So, when you went into your box of goodies, did you go down memory lane and hold on to those scraps? Or did you take them out and use them? What on earth are we saving this stuff for? It’s only PAPER!! And we can make MORE!!!

I’ve created a few more thank you cards for today’s inspiration.

Giving Thanks

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Since Thanksgiving is almost upon us, I thought I would dedicate this week to thinking about how thankful I am for my wonderful life and all of my dear friends. So, this week’s challenge is to make a “simple thank you” card with any stamping scraps you have.

When I realized my blog week was near, and I would be traveling the next two weeks, I decided that these cards would have to be made NOW in a nano second. So, I went into my scrap stash and I found a TON of already stamped scraps that I couldn’t previously throw away. (That didn’t even include my paper and ribbon hoarding boxes!) I picked out some of the scraps (see below) and started creating.

Just by playing around and arranging these paper scraps, I created more than a dozen cards in a very short time. Card making doesn’t have to be elaborate. Just pick one item and build around that.

Here is a closeup of my first card:

I hope you are ready to rescue some of your stamped scraps!  This week I challenge you to create a thank you card that uses at least one stamped scrap and one Hero Arts stamp.  Load your cards into the Hero Arts Flickr pool by Sunday, November 23 at 11:59pm PST.  Please tag your submissions with the word “thankful“.  From the entries we will select winners for the following prizes:

  • NEW!! Fresh Face Winner (someone who has not yet won a contest): $50 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
  • 1st place: $50 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
  • 2nd place: $25 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
  • 3rd place: $10 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog

Yes, you read that right — not one but TWO winners will be winning $50 of new Hero Arts stamps — a Fresh Face in addition to our “usual” first place.

Thanks for stopping by.  Come back tomorrow to see what bits and pieces turn into simple thank you cards!
