Hero Arts Handmade for Christmas Blog Hop + Prizes!

Monday, September 29th, 2014

heroarts_holidayhop_500

Hello and welcome to the Handmade for Christmas blog hop! Today our design team has assembled to share loads of inspiration with you for the upcoming holiday season. With October knocking at the door, it’s time to start thinking about those holiday cards and projects!

Sally Traidman is here to kick things off…

Happy Fall everyone! Our Christmas blog hop can’t start without celebrating Halloween first, right? I totally love our new Fright Night pumpkins and Jack-O-Lantern matching die, so I wanted to show you what I made with them, as well as my favorite new Halloween background.

I decided the black words would show up better with a pure white background, so I masked the “word area” on my card before stamping the background in Soft Granite ink. Then I went in and stamped the messages in black. Next the fun stuff! I played around with my pumpkins, stamping the solid pumpkins with various oranges and yellows and then die-cutting. The black faces and solid lines were added, and the stems colored brown with a colored pencil. I mounted them on the card with foam tape.

A2Z Scrapbooking Digital Blog Hop

Monday, August 25th, 2014

hopgraphic

Hello, and a very happy Monday to you. Today we are excited to be hosting a blog hop with A2Z Scrapbooking, our new digital retailers. Currently, A2Z Scrapbooking offer a selection of our digital goodies, but in the coming weeks, they will be adding to their collection and stocking our entire range. To celebrate our new collaboration, a number of artists from A2Z and Hero Arts have teamed up to provide you with a whole host of inspiration and fun. Just hop along and see how our digital products can be used.

And to add to the excitement, A2Z Scrapbooking will be giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky commenter. The prize winner will be randomly selected from ALL comments received on the participating designers’ blogs. The more comments you leave along the hop, the better your odds of winning, so be sure to comment on every blog, starting with this one! You have until Sunday August 31st at 11.59EST to leave your comments and the winner will be announced on the 3rd September on the A2Z Scrapbooking blog.

To start things off, Lucy has created a card with the new Bottle Brush digikit. Here’s what she has to say: One of the great things about Hero Arts digital kits is that the stamps in the kit can be used as cut files too. This is a great way to get more from your supplies. To make my card, I took a star stamp from the Bottle Brush kit, opened it in Silhouette software, traced it and then cut it from gold glitter paper.

To complete the card, I added a punched glittery heart, some gold thread and a digital sentiment also from the Bottle Brush kit.

Welcome to the 2014 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop!

Monday, December 16th, 2013

ha2014catalogbloghopbanner_500

Hello and welcome to the 2014 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop! We’re so happy you’re here!

In anticipation and celebration of our 2014 Catalog, we’ve lined up 17 Hero Arts designers and friends to create projects with brand NEW 2014 stamps. The new stamps debut at Hero Arts Catalog Debut Parties around the world starting tomorrow, December 17th, continuing through January 3rd! Wondering if there’s a Debut Party near you? Visit our party page for a list of locations.

Our own Sally Traidman is here to kick things off!

Hello Hero blog hoppers! What a great way to begin a new week! Lots of super new ideas with great new 2014 stamps! Since it is our friend Lisa Spangler’s birthday tomorrow, we thought we would surprise her with a few cards. I knew I wanted to use the new F5895 Dauber Garland, but as usual I got carried away! This fun garland inspired so many ideas! I’m limiting myself to three of them today but the possibilities are endless! Those little circles can be filled with a multitude of stamps or objects - of course the daubers as the name implies - but also gems, sequins, buttons, etc. So let’s get rolling…

Lisa loves our pool color, so I had to use some of that on her cards! For this first card I filled the garland with the little star stamp from Keyboard Alphabet. Then I stamped a bunch of messages from the new CL730 Anything Can Happen set, which is full of phrases and words that can be combined in so many fun ways! I love how the “happy” is a separate stamp!

bloghop_sally1

My next idea was to fill the garland with the new and very small flower center from CL750 Butterfly. In fact, it’s so small it stuck to something on my desk and I had to retrieve it out of the garbage can! WHEW! Catastrophe averted.

bloghop_sally2

Last but not least, on my final card I turned to the Keyboard Alphabet once again - this time actually using the letters! (Our tiny Printer’s Type Alphabet fits too, but I wanted a reverse alphabet for this card.)

Find out how to make this card — click for complete supplies and instructions.

Lisa, I hope you enjoyed your cards! Happy birthday my friend! And I hope the rest of you enjoyed these ideas - have fun on the rest of the hop!

Before you hop along to see the rest of the blogs, let’s talk about GIVEAWAYS! After all, it wouldn’t be a blog hop without some prizes…

  • We will be giving away (5) $75 Hero Arts Shopping Sprees so that you can pick out whatever your stampy heart desires from the Hero Arts Online Store, including the newest 2014 Catalog stamps once they’re added to the store.
  • We will also be giving away (10) copies of the 2014 Catalog.
  • But that’s not all! We’ll have an extra goodie to give away to someone who makes it to the hop’s final destination and leaves a comment there. You’ll have to hop along and find out where that is!
  • How can you win? Simply comment on the blog hop stops (starting with this one!) The more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win. *Limit one comment per blog, please.* ALL comments posted by 11:59pm PST on Sunday, December 22nd will be included in the random prize drawings, so enjoy the hop at your leisure! OWH Birthday Bash Blog Skip + Giveaway

Wednesday, September 18th, 2013

birthday-2013-banner-sept18-ha

September is Operation Write Home’s birthday month and we’re thrilled to be celebrating with them today by way of a Blog Skip! (In case you’re wondering, a “skip” is a miniature version of a blog hop. Fun, right?!)

The skip began at the OWH Stars & Stamps blog so be sure to click over there to start from the top.

Our mission was to create a card of any theme using the Hero Arts - Operation Write Home fundraiser stamps. Hero Arts donates 25% of the profits from the sale of these sets to Operation Write Home. There are 6 clear sets and 3 woodblock sets in all, each specifically designed for creating cards to help our heroes keep in touch with home. You can see them all HERE.

I thought the cute little framed message from the Right at Home set would be perfect to use with the chalkboard technique, so that was the starting point for my card.

card_5327

Find out how to make this card — click for complete supplies and instructions.

I white embossed the image onto Black Layering Paper and then smudged a bit of Unicorn Pigment Ink onto it with my fingertip. (Be sure to check out Lisa’s blog post on Monday for three more chalkboard cards — they’re awesome!)

card_5327_1

A few BasicGrey patterned papers add to the cozy feel.

And here’s a fun DIY embellishment tip! You can create your own enamel dots by painting our Metallic Decor with nail polish. The Silver Metallic Decor turned white with two quick coats. It won’t scratch off easily, as paint might. I have a feeling I’ll be raiding my daughter’s nail polish collection and creating enamel dots in a rainbow of colors very soon. :)

metallicdecornailpolish

I hope this leaves you feeling inspired to create some cards for Operation Write Home. If you are a new contributor, please be sure to read their card guidelines HERE for some very important information.

***What’s a birthday bash without presents? We’re having a giveaway to celebrate OWH’s birthday!*** The prize includes the Right at Home set as well as 3 packages of Silver Metallic Decor.

owh-blogskipgiveaway

For a chance to win, just leave a comment on this post by Sunday, September 22 at 11:59pm PST. The lucky winner will be randomly chosen from all of the comments received and announced on the blog next week.

Now it’s time to skip onward, friends! Lucky you — your next stop is the blog of Operation Write Home’s President and Founder, Sandy Allnock. Click HERE to visit Sandy’s blog. I can’t wait to see what she has in store today!

Thanks for skipping by and enjoy the rest of the journey!
