Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Hi everyone — it’s Sally here.  I’m back to announce the winners of last week’s “About Me” challenge.  All the entries looked so fabulous that I had to completely randomize the winners.  So, without further ado, here we GO!

Third place goes to designs by diana for her mini-book.  Love the simplicity of her book, and her use of Design Block stamps!  Here’s the cover:

Here’s the matching back — TOO CLEVER!

And here’s an inside page:

Second place goes to mintybelle for her page from her travel journal.  Love how it is so simple, and how she used the “just the facts” stamp.

Finally — the moment you’ve been waiting for!  First place goes to scrapperjjb for her  mini album.  I love how she used stamping on EVERY page!  Feast your eyes on the cover plus a few of the treats that are inside:

Write it down…

Lisa’s mini book idea inspired me to make my own version for my September travels. I just stapled three Kraft note cards together and stamped on the front cover. Inside I left plenty of room for writing and pictures and business cards…I collect those everywhere I go so I can remember where I was!! I put colored circle tabs in to separate the dates.

Here is a cover shot, the tabs, plus one of the inside after I filled it up!

Christmas comes early…

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

As I said earlier in the week, I had to design several cards for an upcoming class. I can’t show you those cards yet, but I can share some that we didn’t use. (I can never stop at the amount they ask for…my ideas runneth over!)

Here are three ideas so you can start on your Christmas cards NOW!

This third card is simply using all the scraps left from all the other cards plus a few embellishments, and of course, a circle punch.

Supplies:

I am constantly intrigued with the number of people that never saw embossing powder. I was recently in a paper store when the clerk was showing a couple how to do it for a wedding. Embossing makes any card elegant, so give it a whirl on your Christmas cards. Here’s a quick video on embossing with gold.

And lastly, you know how I can’t throw away scraps from a project. Here are some Christmas scraps that turned into fall apples! Enjoy!apples-scraps.jpg

Two wedding cards…and then some

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Welcome back to my next project. I needed two wedding cards for this week, so, knowing me, I couldn’t stop at two. Two turned into seven. I decided to show you five and keep two for the actual wedding cards! All cards were made with two of Hero Arts’ clear wedding sets, plus a few gems, pearls and glitter. Color was added with watercolor pencils.

See how many combinations you can make from just a few stamps? What FUN it was just playing with pearls, glitters and gems, plus a few soft silky ribbons from Creative Impressions! Try it!

A Day in the Life…

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Hi Everyone,

As I was making cards for a future class and some for my OWN needs, I decided to let you peek in on a real week of a Hero card artist.

So, first off, I made a little journal that is totally ME! If you’ve been on my blog week before, you know I have many loves…pink and orange, ribbons, hearts, flowers and BLING!

I incorporated all my loves into a mini journal. It is a white note card and several pages of lighter weight peach colored paper stapled together. I am always wishing I had a place to write things down that I want to remember, so I made this:

So, for this week’s challenge, I would like you to make a mini journal or scrapbook page that tells us about YOU.  Use at least one Hero Arts stamp and submit it to the Hero Arts Flickr Group Photo Pool by Sunday, September 14th at 11:59 PM PST.  Tag it with the code word “about-me” — that’s “about” plus a dash “-” plus “me” — all squished together with no spaces.

Here are the prizes:

  • 1st place: $50 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
  • 2nd place: $25 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
  • 3rd place: $10 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog

Here’s a tip: blank journals make GREAT little gifts for the holidays!

See you tomorrow,
