Hi everyone, it’s Lisa here with a card using the BasicGrey Carte Postale collection. Just love this collection so much. It’s great for capturing your travel memories in a scrapbook, or to send a card full of smiles across the miles!
Many stampers have told me that they have troubles using patterned papers on their cards, so I thought I’d share my thought process and some tips.
First, the finished card! I plan on sending this to my Dad:
One of the first things I do when I’m making a card with patterned paper is to figure out the ink colors I want to use. The easiest way to do this is to grab a sheet of patterned paper with several colors and then see what inks work with them. This really helps take the guesswork out of my stamping!
I gotta say, pulling the color combos from the papers really helps me. And I’d never have thought of this combo on my own! Of course I had to incorporate a touch of the striped paper on the card. A little bit of stripes can really go a long way.
Now for another tip! I love how patterned paper adds touches of things that stamps can’t do — or that are very hard to do — like the stripes. But then there are things you can do with *stamps* that you can’t do with paper — like using metallic inks or embossing. So, here’s one of my favorite tips: use your stamps on patterned papers!
Here, I decided to stamp Let’s Get Away on some of the cream patterned paper that’s part of the Carte Postale paper pad. Love how BasicGrey includes some plainer sheets of papers that are perfect for stamping on. It adds that extra little something to your stamping. I just think it’s too cool how the stamp matches the paper!
And there you have it!
Thanks so much for joining me today! Hope that these trips and tricks help ya with using patterned papers with your stamping.
Come visit again tomorrow when Kelly will be here with another fabulous Carte Postale card!
