A New Contest + a Spooky Scene
Hi everyone! A new month means it’s time for a new contest! Even though many of us in the U.S. are still dealing with some very hot weather, we are switching gears and getting ready for Fall. In addition to our Fall theme, we also have a color challenge and our technique for the month is “A Stamp for all Seasons”. We want to see how you use your seasonal stamps in ways other than their intended purpose.
Visit our contest page for all of the details for this month’s challenge. Your 1st round submissions are due in the Hero Arts Flickr Group by September 13 at 11:59pm PST.
To get things started, I’ve created this card with a spooky Halloween scene.

Masking is a great technique to add dimension to your cards without adding bulk. I first masked off the moon and the hill areas to create the orange background. Then I used the negative areas of the masks to block off my background while I inked the yellow moon and black hill. It takes a bit of planning, but the results are always worth it!

I also love how the Many Branches Tree image gives the card a bit of a spooky feel. When I first saw this stamp I thought it would be great for winter and Christmas cards, but the more I looked at it I could see it working for many other seasons as well.
I look forward to seeing what you all create this month!
Have a great day!
