Multi-color background technique

Hi there! It’s Tami here to share a fun and colorful technique you can use with your background stamps. On today’s card I created a multi-colored, textured backdrop for the Newspaper Skyline — and it couldn’t have been easier! The formula? This little babyMemento markers in Hero Hues colors + a mist of water.

Find out how to make this card — click for complete supplies and instructions.

Just take the background stamp, place it rubber-side up on your table, and scribble circles of color onto it with the brush ends of the chosen markers. You don’t need to be precise here. Random is good! Remoisten the ink with a few spritzes of water and stamp onto white cardstock.

Here’s a closer look at the texture, where you can see the blending and the watercolor effect in the pink/orange areas. In contrast, the pattern in the sky retains its definition, since it was not misted with water. Isn’t it neat how a little water gives the stamp a whole different look?

And hey! Great news — the Envelope Liner Background is our Stamp of the Week! Now through Sunday, August 19, you can get the Envelope Liner Background at 25% off ($9.00) in the Hero Arts Online Store. (No promo code required.)
