Springtime Mixed Media

Hello and happy Monday! It’s Tami here, with a week of flower-filled inspiration to go along with our challenge theme for the month. Today I’m kicking things off with a bit of mixed media fun, playing with paint and materials I might not typically use for cardmaking.

My mixed media card starts with a background created with tissue paper, paint, and of course…stamps! Here’s a peek at the background in progress…

You can read exactly how it was created in the step-by-step instructions HERE, but basically I built up layers of wrinkly tissue paper (adhered with matte finish Mod Podge), painted a wash of craft paint over top, then stamped our fabulous Newspaper Background on top of that.

And here’s the finished card, bursting with happy colors and most definitely inspired by the change of seasons…

There are so many ways you could color the Pom Pom Flower. Since I was aiming for artsy, I went with a messy splash of pink paint, applied with the sharp edge of a foam brush prior to stamping the flower. Talk about the ultimate quick coloring technique! :)

Thanks for stopping by — see you tomorrow for more flowery goodness!
