Batik…and a peek!
Hi everyone! It’s Tami here. Welcome back to the blog!
This month’s challenge theme spurred me to make some ATCs (Artist Trading Cards.) The 2.5″ x 3.5″ canvas is such a fun size to work with! And even more fun? NEW stamps! The vintage postal images (CL535 Carte Postale) used here are all new stamps from our upcoming Summer Catalog, which we’ll be showing in full on the blog this Friday.
Here is a look at the ATC by itself…

And here it is tucked into a simple card I designed to hold the ATC. With two horizontal slits and a stamped message, the holder keeps the ATC snug, yet allows for easy removal by the recipient.

Project by Tami Hartley. Complete supplies and instructions here.
Curious about the technique used on the ATC? It’s one I learned not long after being introduced to stamping — the batik technique. It’s similar to emboss resist. You stamp the images with Versamark, clear emboss, and then rub ink over the embossed images. But instead of stopping there, you remove the gloss of the embossing powder with the use of an iron and copy paper. (Read all about it in the instructions here!) Lots of fun.
TIP: These are so easy to make in multiples. Stamp a whole sheet of postal images, do the batik technique, then cut the sheet into ATCs. You can get ten ATCs from one 8.5″ x 11″ sheet. (More on that in Wednesday’s video!)
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful Monday!
