Hi there, and welcome back to the blog, so nice to see you! Today I have another Mother’s Day card featuring colored pencils and flowers — this one is for my husband’s Grandma. Can’t wait until she gets it!
(Card by Lisa Spangler. Click for the full materials and instructions.)
For this card I used one of my favorite colored pencil techniques: coloring on Kraft paper. As I said in the title, Colored Pencils + Kraft Paper = YUM! It’s so easy and looks so nifty, especially the white pencil. (Something to keep in mind for Christmas is using white pencil to color snowmen!)
Here’s a closeup so that you can see it better:
And I just had to mention the NEW Designer Twine. It comes on the cutest little wooden spools — love. (Gonna have to save the spools when the twine is gone.) It’s a really strong twine, in fact, I’d say that it’s more like cording. Love the colors, too!
And another favorite trick? Adding gems to flower centers! The Clear Mixed Gemstone pack is great for this — it has so many sizes — even tiny ones for the smallest of buds.
One last thing before I go! This card features the Stamp of the Week: Swirl Vine. It’s 25% off in the Hero Arts Store for this week only. Did you know that orders placed in the Hero Arts Online store are fulfilled by local stamp stores? I think that’s so great.
Thanks so much for joining me today! See you tomorrow when I’ll be back with another Mother’s Day card featuring colored pencils, flowers, and some inspiration from an unexpected place…
