July contest theme + more summery winners!
July is upon us, so you know what that means - it’s time for a new monthly theme and challenge here on the Hero Arts Blog. The focus this month is Food, Travel and the Bookmaking technique. You can find all of the contest details HERE.
I can hear you all squealing from here. Food!?! Yummy, what’s not to love? Travel!! We can daydream about distant places on our projects this month! Bookmaking??? SQUEAL!
What does all this mean for you? As an example, this month you can enter projects based on any or all of these three topics:
- Food (BBQs, dinner invitations, recipe cards, fruit, CUPCAKES - so many possibilities, really.)
- Travel (Vacation scrapbook pages, by the seashore, bon voyage cards, you name it!)
- Bookmaking - If you choose to use this technique, your project can be of ANY theme! And of course we’ll be showing you fun ways to create your own books throughout the month, stay tuned!
We cannot wait to see how this month’s theme gets your creative juices flowing! (Hey - juice - that fits the food theme! HA!) Here’s the schedule for this month, so you can see how everything will flow.

Now before we get completely focused on the July theme, let’s visit our old friends Summer Fun & 4th of July one more time…

That’s right, today’s also the day we announce the second round of winners from the June contest! We know we say this every time, but WOW, you all never cease to amaze us with your creations! We truly think June may have been our best round yet, there were so many wonderful creations to choose from!! Please know that we loved so many entries, far more than we could award prizes to. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for continuing to use our products in such wonderful, creative ways! Visit Flickr to see all of the phenomenal creations yourself, both the 2nd half of the month (HERE) and the first (HERE).
To begin we’ll share our Fresh Face choice this time around - a stamper who has never won our contests. We’re happy to introduce you to michellesielman. Her happy, summery little house scene warmed our hearts. We also adored her beach card, HERE. Her cheerful style brought a smile to our faces!

This stunning Digital category winner is from SmilynStef. We can guarantee, she’s not the only one who’s smiling when they look at this beauty! She printed the butterfly image from our Flutterbies DigiKit on transparency and colored the back - just lovely.

And now onto our Fab Five - some of our favorite cards this month, presented in no particular order. Just like our Digital and Fresh Face winners, every member of the Fab Five will receive a $50 Hero Arts shopping spree.
We found this clever card from swanlady21 absolutely irresistible - she turned our Clouds background into sheep!!! And then paired it with a “sending warm fuzzies” message - hee hee! So smart and so adorable!

Have you ever looked through heather maria’s photostream? You’d be hard pressed to find a card in there that isn’t a stunner! For this card, Heather says she was trying this month’s technique, color layering, and veered off a bit. Well no matter the technique, we love how the card turned out! You can just imagine the peace and serenity in a poppy field on a warm summer’s day. The bead centers and yarn stems are fantastic touches.

Speaking of warm summer days, we love how Agata Dag captured the memories of warm summer days on this gorgeous scrapbook page! Her large sun, decorated with our Flourish Background, is just perfect. And visit her on Flickr to read about her title on this page - so clever and fun!

Next is a star-spangled beauty from maropeusa. Could her coloring of these dolls be any more perfect? Wow! And she even changed her shirt for the holiday. Such a fun and festive card!

And finally, this adorable porthole scene from weememories (Jenny). Does Jenny create anything that’s not completely adorable? We think not. And we love how she combined that cute little crab from Let’s Chill with some other fishy images from Oceans of Joy, yay! A match made in fishy heaven.

Congratulations to all the winners!! Please contact us at winner@heroarts.com with your address and phone number, and also include your list of $50 worth of product! You can look through our store HERE to create your list. Please include “June2010B Winner” in the subject line. There are also blog blinkies available for all the winners - if you’d like one, please let us know in your email and we’ll send it along as well!
And once again, a great big thanks to everyone who played along with the June contest! We can’t wait to see what you come up with in July!
Happy Stamping!

Jenny (@ weememories), your “porthole” card really is adorable. I love the texture and dimensions on it. I keep waiting for Nemo to swin by.

maropeusa,
I love your 4th of July card, it’s so very festive. I love the big, red star with the white stitching, I love the little stars on the little girl and I love how it all comes together so nicely. I typically do not like cards that are too cutesy, but this card has the perfect amount of cuteness and it is also fun and perfect for any aged person.

Agata Dag,
I really like your layout here. The sun is so great with the flourishes in it. It’s a wonderful inspiration piece.

Heather Maria,
It’s so true, this Birthday card truly is a stunner!! Your attention to the details is what makes this card so spectacular. I now have to go look at your photo stream and be even more inspired by your artful cards. I always say that the real compliment is if a card makes me want to buy the stamp &/or stamps used on it. After seeing this poppy card you made I know now that I have to have that poppy stamp……. immediately.
Shannon Sawyer
swanlady21,
What a fuzzy warm idea you had for your card. Thinking outside the box is always successful.
Shannon Sawyer
SmilynStef,
Beautful, beautiful round card. I love the butterfly on that Basic Grey paper.

michellesielman,
Congrats on the “Fresh Face” award & acknowlegment, you certainly dserved it. I really loved the tiny, little bees on the “Just Saying Hello” card. And I loved the whole little scene you set up along with the button sun. And of course the little flag banners over the house is so darling. Everyone seems to be into those flag banners right now. Great card!!!
