Summer Fun: Garland

Hi everyone! I’ve got one more summer fun project to share with you this week.

I just love the trend of all the banners and garlands that I’ve been seeing pop up in cardmaking, scrapbooking and home decor, so I was really excited to create this pinwheel garland. It is the perfect decoration to spruce up a window for the summer months! And the best part? You can use your stamps and inks to create endless pattern and color possibilities.

I thought I’d share a little bit about how I created the pinwheels and give you a better look at how the pieces look before they are assembled. I began with two strips of cardstock, each measuring 2″ x 11″.

Next, stamp a pattern on both sides of the cardstock and use a border punch along one edge. Then accordion fold the two pieces and attach them end-to-end to form one long piece. Next, adhere the two ends together to form a circle. Press down on the center of the circle to flatten and glue flower to center, making sure to press down until glue is dry. A few weeks ago, Tami created a wonderful tutorial with detailed views on how to create medallions/pinwheels, so be sure to check that out here.

Now how about some IDEA FRIDAY inspiration!  Check out these six stunning cards that feature stamps from our Arts & Craft 2010 Summer Catalog.

The second half of our June contest is now under way! Submit your Summer Fun, 4th of July & Color Layering creations to the Hero Arts Flickr Gallery by 11:59pm PST on June 24th using the tag June2010B.

Thanks for joining me this week!  I hope you have a great weekend!

Garlands and pinwheels do say summer is here and the school is out. So, the summer fun begins….
with birthday parties, graduation parties or just backyard barbecue parties. Garlands and pinwheels is a fun way to jazz up any celebration.

Garland’s and Banner’s are really popular right now and I know why, because they are so great! Who wouldn’t love a garland like this one that “Kelly Rasmussen” made hanging on a summer patio or porch? It would add such a fun and festive flair to any occasion even if it’s just a Saturday afternoon.
