Ink-redible Inspiration

Hi everyone, thanks for popping into the blog for Watch It Wednesday! Today we’re joined by Hero Hostess Jill Foster, who’s designed a fabulous project inspired by Hostess Linda. But that’s not all! As a special treat she’s put together an accompanying photo tutorial that will give us all a glimpse into her inking process. Here she is now…take it away Jill! :)

“My inspiration today comes from the incredibly talented, Linda aka Oz. She is the background queen and her inspiration card, which can be seen HERE is sure to impress!

I love the way she created the ghost-like effect of the foliage stamping by spritzing her stamp with Perfect Pearls and water. And, of course, that gorgeous green provides a rich backdrop for her beautiful sentiment panel.

Here is my take:

Because it is Watch It Wednesday, it is also my privilege to share with you a little photo tutorial to go with my card! I will be sharing a couple of techniques I frequently use to add depth and shading to my cards.

We will begin with the green background. I love to enrich the colors of my Distress Ink by combining them with chalk inks. Here’s how:

Next, here is a quick method for adding shading to stamped images.

You can see more of this gel pen shading technique on the leaves HERE. Finally, stamp the sentiment and add the butterfly, punched border with stitching, and metallic décor to the card.”

Beautiful from beginning to end, Jill! Thanks so much for taking the time to create this fantastic tutorial for us today. And most of all, thanks for being such a great Hero Hostess!!

Before I go, I wanted to remind everyone about the two contests currently under way. There’s still time to submit!

Tomorrow is Social Club Thursday and then we’ll be back on Friday with more Hero Hostess inspiration. Enjoy your day!

Wow, Jill! I always thought there was some complicate process behind making those backgrounds, which only really talented stampers (such as yourself) could make. But after this tutorial, I’m not going to have an excuse for not trying this! ;)

I cannot believe I just now discovered the Hero Arts blog. Hero Arts is one of my favorite stamp companies and now that they have the Clings; I like them even more. They are high quality and long lasting stamps. I love the ideas and other crafters sharing their ideason the blog. I will be a regular, for sure. I have a thing for butterflies so I was immediately intrigued by the butterfly postcard; but I found other cards that I will check out as well.
