Sneak Peek Fall Layout and Tag!

Welcome back! Today we have two more sneak peek fall projects, but before we get to those, let’s find out who the lucky winner of Tuesday’s giveaway is…

Random.org says the the winning comment number is…

#498, and that belongs to Therese H (July 28th, 2009 at 5:05 pm): “I am thankful for the belly laughter of my children.”

Congratulations! Please email the blog with your address so we can send your prize out to you.

Now, onto today’s projects!

For starters, we have a scrapbook page from Lin Brandyberry showcasing some of our new autumn and Halloween themed stamps. Doesn’t this page remind you of a warm snuggly fall quilt?

Lin did a beautiful job of combining patterned papers and stamps. If you look closely you will recognize the log cabin quilt block; and yes Lin is a quilter. You start with a square in the center and then move around the edges, framing it with rectangles. Quilt patterns can inspire your card making and scrapbooking, plus you get to have all that “eye candy” quilting fabric to look at for color ideas.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. After selecting coordinating papers, stamp the letters on plain orange paper, cut out and set aside.
  2. Form your center piece with the picture, title, and additional paper to form a square.
  3. Continue arranging the papers to form a 12X12″ page. Add thin brown strips of paper between each block.
  4. Stamp a pumpkin, cut out, and adhere to the block left of the photo.
  5. Color the stamped pumpkins and highlight the message stamped paper with an orange marker.
  6. Add a raffia bow with glue dots.

Thanks Lin, I love your page.  Having hobbies that combine some of the same elements is really a fun way to spend your leisure time. Stamping makes me feel like my mind is on vacation and my spirit kind of tags along for the ride.

Next Tami Hartley created a wonderful tag for a gift bag using some of the same stamps Lin used. Tami was inspired by Lin’s blocked design and the repeatedly stamped Halloween messages.

She used the Houndstooth stamp to create a subtle pattern on both the pumpkin and the strip representing the grass. The vertical orange strip with the flourish design is another sneak peek — it was stamped with the new Flourish Trio woodblock stamp (H5261)!

Thanks for dropping in on this final day of July (can you believe it?)  I hope these projects have sparked some ideas for the upcoming season. Have fun stamping for this week’s challenge (details HERE) and I’ll be looking forward to viewing all of your wonderful tag creations.
