Monochromatic Cards, Take Two!
Welcome back to our monochromatic week with the Web Artists!
Before we dive into today’s projects, we thought we would talk a bit about a handy little feature that we added to the blog over there in the sidebar: Recent Posts. It’s right there under the Welcome box, and it shows you the most recent posts here on the blog! Some days we have so much going on — from announcing giveaway winners, to the Card of the Week, and MORE that we have more than one post — so be sure to check the Recent Posts box so that you don’t miss a thing!
Now, back to monochromatic week! All three of today’s monochromatic projects will feature Hero Arts notecards and exclusive Shadow Inkpads. Here is a little sampler I created for all eight of the Shadow Inks. (Stamp used is from the Artistic Windows set.)
These soft, subtle inks are quite versatile and are great for a variety of inking techniques beyond shadow stamping. Let’s see how the Web Artists have used them!
First, Kelly Rasmussen used Pool Shadow Ink alongside matching Pool Notecards on her gorgeous card, achieving a clean and simple monochromatic look. Kelly says, “The Pool notecards and Shadow Ink are one of my favorite colors to work with. To create the flower, I stamped the image with VersaMark ink on acetate and then embossed with white embossing powder.”
Here’s a detailed look at the acetate window on the front of Kelly’s card…
Supplies:
- Clear Design: Artistic Borders
- Clear Design: Birthday Sayings
- Pool Notecards & Neutral Mixed Notecards
- Acetate Notecards
- Soft Pool Shadow Ink
- VersaMark
- White Embossing Powder
- Medium Accent Pearls
- Clear Card Buttons
- Other: border punch (Fiskars), circle Nestabilities, aqua permanent marker, white string, pop dots
Tips from Kelly:
- To create the scalloped strip on this card, I just inked a piece of white cardstock with the pool ink pad…it’s a perfect match!
- Coordinate the accent pearls by coloring them with an aqua permanent marker.
Next, Robyn Werlich designed a sweet thank you card using Cantaloupe notecards and Apricot Shadow Ink. (It even sounds delicious!) Here is Robyn with more: “Whenever I am in a rush or stuck in the ‘creativity department’…a monochromatic card is a great place to start! Simply grab supplies in the same color and a neutral (white, brown, kraft, etc.) and get to stamping! Background stamps are a great addition as they add interest to the main design and can fill a space quickly. Add another fun stamp with some glitter or embossing, some pop dots, and a saying and you have a wonderful card!”
Supplies:
- Clear Design: Thank You Sayings
- Raindrop Background
- Black and White Flowers
- Summer Mixed Notecards (Cantaloupe)
- Soft Apricot Shadow Ink
- Prisma Glitter
- Other: sewing, liquid glue pen, 2″ circle punch, 1 3/4″ scalloped circle punch
And finally, I created a card using Soft Blossom Shadow Ink. I brayered it liberally onto glossy paper, building up several layers and leaving it intentionally messy and rough around the edges. The Soft Blossom Ink takes on a softer look when stamped tone on tone onto the background patterned paper. It also works great for sponging around the edges.
Supplies:
- Silhouette DesignBlock
- Old Letter Writing DesignBlock
- Sparkle Clear: Messages
- Soft Blossom Shadow Ink
- Neutral Mixed Notecards
- StazOn Jet Black Ink
- Other: glossy paper, patterned paper (Basic Grey), brayer, white pen, white acrylic paint, 1 1/4″ circle punch (EK Success), scalloped circle punch and scalloped border punch (Martha Stewart Crafts), silk ribbon (Creative Impressions), pop dots
Now let’s have a fun giveaway of some monochromatic goodies! How about some Hero Arts notecards and Shadow Inkpad in a must-have color — Pool! It really should be called Perfect Pool — it’s that wonderful.
And how about some teal gemstones and the Outline Flowers DesignBlock to go along with it too?
Simply leave a comment on today’s post for a chance to win, and we will announce the winner tomorrow morning.
See you then…thanks for stopping by today!
