Win-a-Day: Tiffany’s Day with Lisa!
Hi everyone! It’s Lisa here, along with the super talented stamper that I chose to Win a Day on the Blog: Tiffany Ervin, also known as Paper Girl! You’ll soon see why Paper Girl is the perfect name for Tif, but first, I asked her some questions so that you could get to know her better. Here we go!
Q1: What is your favorite stamping technique? (Simple stamping, embossing, collage, etc.)
Tif: Simple stamping.
Q2: What is your “go-to” color combination?
Tif: I have several favorites: lavender and celadon, orange and chocolate, and pink and green.
Q3: What are your favorite Hero Arts embellishments? (Gems, pearls, buttons, etc.)
Tif: All the art flowers - Spring being my favorite! Pearl gems come in a close second!
Q4: What inspires you?
Tif: My environment - I love to get out of the house and go outside to the parks, stores, and restaurants…and sometimes just sit and people watch. It’s really amazing the things I see and what I inhale as inspiration on a daily basis! I also like to soak in books, magazines, shows on t.v., and even my son’s toys give me a lot of ideas!
Q5: What is your favorite dessert?
Tiffany: Chocolate Vesuvio - a chocolate and caramel fudge brownie served with vanilla gelato - it’s filled with lots of sambuca and caramel sauce! I am a chocolate lover!! Yum!
Thanks Tif! I must say that I’m a chocolate lover too — oh yeah! Now for Tif’s first creation — when I first saw this I flipped out! Just look at what she did with the Design Block Clouds stamp — it’s amazing!
Card by Tif Ervin
Tif says: “I used the clouds stamp to turn it into the blue sea and the white portion resembles fog and patches of ice. For the sailboat and flag, I stamped the Dots and Flowers stamp and woodgrain stamp. Red notecards were cut into strips for the pole and the life preserver. Foam adhesive tape was used to add dimension to the waves of water. I also curled the tips of the waves for dimension as well.”
Supplies:
- Design Block Clouds
- Clear Design World Dolls
- Clear Design Friends
- Clear Design Dots and Flowers
- Long Notecards Natural
- Kraft Notecards
- Clear Gemstones
- Soft Pool Shadow Ink
- Stazon Jet Black Ink
- Memories ArtPrint Brown Ink
- Other: red ink (Colorbox), tangerine, brown, light pink, yellow, and celadon markers, hole punch, circle punch (EK Success), generic woodgrain stamp, adhesive foam tape
Now for my take on the Design Block Clouds and the Clear Design World Dolls — I tried to come up with something as grand as Tif’s waves — but, I finally settled on creating one giant cloud:

Supplies:
- Design Block Clouds
- Clear Design World Dolls
- Clear Design Sky’s the Limit
- Soft Pool Shadow Ink
- Summer Art Flowers
- Smooth Clear Gems
- White Embossing Powder
- VersaMark Ink
- Kraft Notecard
- Other: white pen (Inksentials, Ranger), colored pencils
Now for Tif’s next creation — feast your eyes on this sweet scene that she created with one of my favorite stamps — the Young Deer — and I just LOVE how she created a mushroom with Hero’s new Spring Blossom Papers! I also love how she thought outside the box with her non-traditional colors:
Card by Tif Ervin
Supplies:
- Design Block Dots and Flowers
- Young Deer
- Clear Design Friends
- Summer Mix Notecards
- Spring Blossom Papers
- Kraft Notecards
- Clear Gemstones
- Heart Accent Pearls
- Spring Art Flowers
- Diamond Stickles
- Stazon Jet Black Ink
- Other: white cardstock, Moss Green ink (Colorbox), Labels Two Nestablilities (Spellbinders), postage stamp edge scissors, coral ribbon, double-sided adhesive dots
Now for my take using the Young Deer and the Spring Blossom Papers! I needed a father’s day card, and I thought that even tho the paper had flowers on it, the colors were masculine enough for a man. So, here’s what I came up with:

Card by Lisa Spangler
Supplies:
- Young Deer
- I Heart My Dad
- Design Block Designer Woodgrain
- Neutral Felt Flowers
- Frosted Lace Stickles (inside the heart)
- Pool & Lemon Notecards
- Soft Pool Shadow Ink
- Memories ArtPrint Brown Ink
- Spring Blossom Papers
- Other: markers (Copic - Colorless Blender, Sand, Sugared Almond Pink, Sepia), ribbon (Bazzill), twine, pinking scissors (Fiskars), shaped die (Labels One, Nestabilities), brown pen (Sakura)
AND! Since today is Watch It Wednesday, I have a video to share showing how I colored the deer using Copic markers. Here you are — or, watch it in widescreen HERE:
(For our long-time viewers, did you notice anything different? Yep, there’s a fun new intro + closing! Hee hee!)
Speaking of Father’s Day, just look at this great card and layout combo that Tif to stamped to celebrate — I LOVE how she uses stamps on her layouts:
And here’s the matching card — just look how she combined the “one of a kind” stamp with an alphabet set to create her own message:
Layout and card by Tif Ervin
Supplies:
- Three Ferns
- Clear Design Be Yourself
- Clear Design Bird Branch Alphabet
- Clear Design Anytime Messages
- Long Notecards
- Clear Buttons
- Clear Gemstones
- Stazon Jet Black Ink
- Soft Leaf Shadow Ink
- Diamond Stickles
- Other: ink (Stazon Forest Green), circle punch (Marvy), corner rounder punch, patterned paper (K & Company), Mega Curved Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders), computer font (Andalus)
Here’s a little tip from Tif: “The green ribbon came from one of the cellophane packages that contained 2 of my doll stamps. I thought the color was perfect for the card! Take a look at your existing packaging that your supplies come in, you would be surprised at what you could use!”
Finally…we saved the best for last! Just look at this cute cafe table + chairs that Tif created — told ya, this girl is super talented!
Project by Tif Ervin
Supplies:
- Feather Grass
- C’est Chouette
- Sunshine Mixed Notecards
- Clear Gemstones
- Spring Blossom Papers
- Summer Felt Flowers
- Stazon Jet Black Ink
- Other: orange, yellow, red, and light green inks, circle punch (Marvy), scallop punches (Marvy), 6 white lollipop sticks, hole punch, double-sided adhesive tape
Tif says: “I used various sized punches to create the table and chairs. A flower vase from the C’est Chouette set was stamped, trimmed, and adhered to table. For the umbrella, a sheet of Washi paper was cut into an octagonal shape, folded and inserted into the lollipop stick. A smaller piece of washi paper was cut and folded to resemble a miniature card that sits next to the flower vase.”
And now for my take — Tif’s furniture reminded me of a French cafe, so I decided to create a card featuring the hostess of “Cafe Chouette!”
Card by Lisa Spangler
Here’s a few tips: To create the “awning” at the top, I used a piece of scallop edge cardstock and traced the pattern on the back, then cut it with scissors. Washi paper has an almost cloth-like hand to it, and doesn’t work very well in punches.
Supplies:
- Clear Design C’est Chouette
- Clear Design What’s the Scoop (for the cupcakes)
- Friendship (for the owl)
- Spring Blossom Papers
- Small Blossom Gems
- Clear Gemstones
- Other: printer, font for “le menu” (Futura Condensed), scallop edge cardstock to use as a pattern for the awning (Bazzill), colored pencils (Prismacolor)
Tif, I had so much FUN with you! You are a terrific person — so glad to get to know you better. Love seeing your creativity — from cards, to layouts, to 3D projects, you’ve got it all! Don’t ever stop stamping. You are truly Paper Girl. BIG hugs to you!
