Take Two Tuesday
Hello! Welcome to our second day of masculine cards… and another card drive for the Cards For Heroes organization.
Throughout the week, we will be sharing ideas from our Hero Hostesses. These cards will be cards suited for men, cards that are good for a man to give to a woman, or Father’s Day cards. We are also encouraging people to send in cards to Cards For Heroes. (Please click HERE for the easy information for sending in cards. You could win some great stamp prizes!)
Today we have some wonderful ideas for you. First we have a delightful card from Lisa Carroll. I just love the window she created behind the star!

Deborah Nolan’s card is amazing! I have purchased a bunch of grungeboard and this inspires me to start playing with it!
I love all of these cards - manly cards are usually so had to make.

All the cards are great. I was wondering how the background was colored on the grunge board bird card?
I sent in some cards for hero yesterday for you card drive. I have been sending cards to soldiers for a couple of years now with my local stamp store. Always have extra cards and this is a good way to put them to good use. stamping sue

Hi, Sue! I’m glad you enjoyed all our cards!
The background on the card was created ike this:
1. Use Cuttlebug embossing folder (”Script”) on white paper.
2. “Kiss” Ranger Distress Inks to a Ranger craft sheet (or glass, waxed paper, etc) and lightly spritz with water. Shari Carroll did a video on this - go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi6o5tLSqoM&feature=channel_page
3. Place your embossed panel face down in the inky puddle and twist.
4. Dry with heat gun.
5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you’re satisfied with the result.
6. OPTIONAL: Use Tim Holtz inking blending tool to apply Ranger Distress Inks and heat set. (If you feel like you want to do a little more blending.)
7. Use a sanding block (I get mine from Sally’s Beauty Supply because they’re super cheap) to lift off the color from the embossed parts.
8. Spritz with Glimmer Mist (”Gold”).
9. Heat set.
I hope you try this - it’s really fun, really easy, and really cool!
Yvonne
