Nancy’s Pick for a Day on the Blog!
Hi everyone, I’m happy to be here this morning to announce the fourth winner in our latest “Win a Day on the Hero Arts Blog Contest”!
If you have visited our Flickr Group you are sure to recognize her name. In addition to being a very talented stamper, she always has compliments and helpful hints for other stampers who ask questions. My pick for a day on the blog is none other than…
Lin’s cards show the best part of stamping, using different colors of ink to create a variety of looks from the same stamps. I always love looking at her entries in our contests because of how she combines our stamps with other mediums and accessories. Here’s a sampling of her beautiful work.
These cards combine older Hero Arts stamps with images from the 2009 catalog. I love the way Lin used several techniques together to create a lovely card with a soft palette of colors. Combining favorite images with new images is one of the things that makes stamping appealing to so many people, and Lin does it wonderfully.
Lin uses different papers and ink colors to create eye catching designs that really do make you smile. When you look at Lin’s cards they are upbeat as they celebrate the colors of the seasons. She often uses white embossing and takes advantage of it’s unique qualities to blend soft background colors. I will ask her for some tips on embossing because she does it so well.
This softly colored message is just right for sending your best wishes to someone special. Who wouldn’t feel better if they received this card? The beautifully embossed flowers with muted colored inks is a perfect example of stamping on different types of paper with Hero Arts stamps. The branch stamped on two different papers shows how to bring one to the foreground (stamping on white paper so you can see the details), and one to the background (stamping on porous paper from a book). The little bird adds just enough whimsy to produce a smile.
Visit Lin’s photostream HERE to be inspired by more of her beautiful creations. I am looking forward to sharing a day on the blog with her. I bet she can show me a few things too!
Don’t miss the winners of last week’s May Flowers Challenge — Shari has that announcement below! And, she will be back tomorrow to share her selection for a day on the blog so be sure to stop by.
