Motivation Monday: Wrap Around Card + Sneak Peeks!

Does anybody remember Shari Lewis and her sock puppet Lamb Chop? This card challenge is about the song she used to sing with Lamb Chop:

This is the song that never ends, it goes on and on my friend.

With Hero Arts’ new 12″ long Clear Design stamps you can truly make “The card that never ends it goes on and on my friend”. As I looked through my 12”clear stamps I realized how many wrap around cards I can create from these exciting long stamps. Here’s an easy example of a wrap around card that features some NEW not-yet-released 12″ long stamps:

Using part of a message on one side and the rest on another, you can create a card that keeps going from side to side. The brightly cut arrows remind the recipient to turn the card over to see the rest of the message. 12” Clear Design stamps allow easy placement of the border from one side to another.

Sneak Peek Stamps! Click the links to see the set!

These “sneak peek” stamps are both part of of the Hero Arts 2008 Winter Catalog and are available for retailers to order now. Watch for the full release of the Winter Catalog on August 1st!

Instructions:

  1. Using the messages from the Clear Design Birthday Expressions, stamp the expressions shown in black ink on several different colors of cardstock. Set aside to dry. Trim around the messages as shown.
  2. Open up the cantaloupe notecard and stamp a border of circles from Clear Design Long Border in black ink over both sides of the notecard. Turn the card over and stamp both sides Color some of the circles with colored pencils, adding heart images in several of the circles using the black ink pad.
  3. Arrange the trimmed “don’t forget to smile today” over the fold so “today is on the right side and the rest of the message is on the left side. Punch a hole in the paper and add a vellum tag stamped with a cupcake, colored and decorated with gemstones.
  4. Continue mounting the stamped elements on all 4 sides of the card, along with cut-out arrows encouraging the recipient to keep turning the card over and over.

TIPS: When attaching flowers or paper over a fold, do not place glue right on the fold, but on either side (this will make it open and close easier).

The flower on the fold has a punched circle in the center instead of a gemstone because a gemstone on the fold is cumbersome.

Now for the Weekly Challenge. Using at least one Hero Arts stamp, create a wrap around card and post it to the Hero Arts Flickr Group by 11:59 PM on Sunday, July 27th. Tag it with the code word “wrap-around”. (See the FAQ for more info on Flickr.) Here are the prizes:

  • 1st place: $50 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
  • 2nd place: $25 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
  • 3rd place: $10 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog

I know you all will come up with creative designs I have never thought of, I can’t wait to see all of your ideas.

Come join the fun and let’s start stamping,
