Take Two Tuesday with Sheri Reguly and Jacki Jones!
Welcome back! It’s “Take Two Tuesday” — so we are featuring TWO Web Artists today!

First up is the super talented Sheri Reguly. I always love Sheri’s style — so clean and fresh. Here’s Sheri to tell you all about her layout and matching card!
The photo I used for this layout is a favorite from last summer. I wanted to carry the fun and light-hearted feel of it over to the layout itself. I’m a huge fan of bold patterned papers, but prefer to use them sparingly, as not to overwhelm my photos or designs. After deciding on two patterns that worked well together, I created complimentary background papers using Hero notecards and DesignBlock Stamps. This is such a quick and effective way of customizing papers to just the right colors and patterns desired. A few colorful and fun embellishments, a stamped monogram, and cut out owl accent completed my page.
I love a quick card!
In addition to using the very same supplies as I used on my layout, I also saved time by using my layout’s actual design for inspiration. To add a little extra sparkle, I placed a small gemstone in the center of each stamped flower, as well as layered the buttons to add further dimension and an extra dash of color.

Tip: By adhering a thin strip of kraft paper at the top of the card, it gives the illusion of it being an extension from the bottom portion. This is a great tip if you’re short on paper, or if you simply want to conserve it.
Next up is Jacki Jones! I’m always in awe of Jacki’s colored pencil technique and her sense of color — you’ll soon see why…

Memories of a beautiful bouquet of summer roses on the dining room table from our front yard is what the Garden Roses stamp brought to my mind the first time I saw it. I was excited at the prospect of coloring it.
When I’m coloring to relax, I really don’t put a lot of conscious thought into what I’m doing which is probably why I gravitate to floral images– they are familiar to me. My favorite coloring medium is Prismacolor Premier Pencils, blending when necessary with the colorless blender pencil.
One of my “secrets” is layering colors. I rarely use one color to color a single image. My vase, for instance, was first colored with a Jasmine (yellow) pencil. I then added the Crimson Red to the edges and worked my way halfway in, decreasing the pressure on the pencil to lighten the color on the way. The blender pencil was used to smooth the lines and join the two colors together creating highlights and shadows. It’s easier than it looks.

Live Simply? There is nothing simple about this card (smile). It actually turned out quite busy, didn’t it? When I saw this set, I had all kinds of tree related ideas in mind from — family reunions to the perfect shade for a summer day. It was the idea of summer simplicity that won out when I started creating this card. I’m afraid that the longer I lingered with this card the less simple it became. All in all, I’m happy about the outcome. Some days, it feels good to get away from the norm…
I decided to use left over matching envelopes instead of card stock to cut out some of the bulk. After stamping and cutting it out, I added a little color to the butterflies, leaves, and buds on the tree. Of course it wouldn’t be a “Jacki” card if colored pencils aren’t used on it somewhere. Creating the magnetized flap closure was another conscious attempt to avoid a card making rut.

Jacki have you tried a blending product with the use of color pencils?
Dawn

Jacki is the bomb! I love love love her stuff!!! Thanks for showing these awesome cards of hers!
Jacki
Shirl, thanks for the question and the compliment. I have tried every blending medium that I’ve heard about from Odorless Mineral Spirits to Colorless blender makers normally used for alcohol based markers. I prefer the control I get from using the pencil. It’s also very portable. I color whenever I have downtime– like in the car pool line or waiting at the doctors office
