Tuesday Inchies

Welcome back to my week of Inchies. So have you tried one yet? They are so addicting, my desk is becoming full of these little stinkers. Today I thought I’d start off by looking at each inchie individually. It’s amazing what you can fit onto a 1” square. When you first cut the paper they seem so tiny, but somehow, as you start working with them they gain in size (or my eyes adjust).

If you’re not sure where to start, maybe try a color study first. Paint some squares with watercolors (or use color card stock) and begin stamping with similar tones of ink. You can use bigger stamps as backgrounds if you don’t have Sparkle Clear stamps. Add you own doodling with pens to create borders or highlight your tone on tone stamping. Then add an embellishment or message. Simple can be just as rewarding.

I’ve done a few so you can see what I mean.

  • My next examples show how to make each inchie so it can stand alone or have a companion to complete a card. Try using bright complimentary color pencils so the images pop.

What a wonderful idea!!! Three of my grandchildren moved out of state yesterday (: - and I want to keep their new mailbox filled. This will be a perfect answer for their little hands. Something quick that I can do. I did 3 tonight - and have the envelope stamped and ready to go in the morning mail.:) This idea is perfect timing for me …. thank you!:)

      Hi Helen,
I use color pencils (Prisma and Derwent).
No Gamsol on these, just shading with different pressure.

Cute, cute, cute. So you can make a scene with them or they can stand alone. What a great idea! Thank you so much Shari. Looking forward to your video tomorrow. I just love the videos. Watching an idea being done is the greatest inspiration. Like a mini class. Keep the wonderful ideas coming.

These inchies are really fun! I have some simple cards made as a starter because an “1 square is very very small. But I find it amusing and gone try to make some, perhaps not for the challenge (a little bit short of time, I’m in the middle of our summer holiday preparation), but I’m certainly gone make them later. Thanks for sharing all of your lovely ideas. :)

Love the bright colors! Thanks for the video; very helpful! Hosting grandchildren, so I cannot play, but do have time to check the blog and watch the videos. Thanks so much!

I love both of these cards - fabulous! The lime green one is lovely - and I love the use of the lime green with brown kraft card for the other. :o)
