An Itty Bitty Motivation Monday with Shari Carroll
Hello friends. Right now I’m flying home from New Jersey where I’ve been learning tons of cool techniques for the past three days at Ranger U. What a great time it was visiting with friends and getting inky!
I’m so excited to get started on my blog week and introduce you to the wonderful world of Inchies! What are inchies you ask? Well, they are simply 1”x1” pieces of artwork. This adorable format is very popular for paper crafters to use as pieces to swap and collect, much like ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards).
My inchies today are all about creating mini scenes on cards. They resemble window frames looking out of doors. What I’ve done is cut my papers into 1”x1” squares first, temporarily affixed them to my work surface, used paints, inks and pencils to color the papers and stamped images. Sparkle Clear stamps are perfect for decorating these!
Here’s a closer look.
Supplies:
Each day this week I’ll share other fun ways to stamp and create different styles of cute little pieces to add to your cards or trade with other stampers. I’ve even had some very talented friends join in on the fun by creating their own inchies which I will share with you later this week, so stay tuned!
Ready for a challenge? I’d like for you to show me your inchies! All you have to do is create one by itself or in a grouping and enter it in the Hero Arts photo pool and tag it with “Inchie”. Use at least one Hero stamp per entry and post before 11:59pm PST on Sunday, June 29th. What you do with them is completely up to you. I can’t wait to see what you come up with, this is going to be fun.
Until tomorrow, Enjoy!

Hi everyone!
I’ve been listening to your comments (like voices in my head…lol) and will attempt to make a video tomorrow for Wednesday. I say attempt only because I’m hoping my camera can zoom in close enough to capture the detail needed to see these little buggers.
As requested, I’ll re-create the tree card background for you and give you other tips for making inchies.
Thanks for taking such interest.
:o)

I was kinda suprised to read that you cut the paper first and stamped second. I would have thought that it was easier to stamp first and cut second. I’m looking forward to the video tomorrow.

I love these, it’s like looking out a window! Can’t wait to try them!

Love your inchies. Way too cool, you’ve inspired me to get started on making Inchies then using them on my cards. I’d love to see a video or even written instructions would work for me.

First off I envy you that you spent 3 whole days at Ranger U.
I love inches!! I like how you incorporated inches into a card to give the appearance of looking thru a window. OK let me gather my stamps, inks, paper and play inches.

Shari - love the inchie techniques! I really need to try this ‘inchie landscape’; one question…what kind of watercolors are those? Love the compactness of the set.
