Motivation Monday: Gift Wrapping!
Good Morning everyone! This week’s challenge is to see how many different ways you can use Hero Arts products to present a gift. Using stamps to wrap a package doesn’t mean you have to “actually stamp” the wrapping paper (although I did stamp one example for this weeks blog). I know you all will come up with the most unique ideas yet!
Since Hero Arts is a green company I thought I would start the week with a reflection of that theme. I used all woodblock stamps and paper quilling strips under the thin ribbon. The quilling strips can be stamped and come in different widths. If you wrap a large package you can join the strips with double stick tape and add a cut out image over the seam at random places, nobody will ever see the seam. If quilling strips are not available in your area you can cut strips of scrapbook paper to make your own.
The stamped bow was created by making different size loops of stamped strips and gluing them on the package, varying the size so the larger loops are glued on first.
The square box was decorated over the bow with cut out leaves using 2 colors of ink, saving the use of wrapping paper.
Supplies
- Floral Accents
- Happy Everything Greetings
- Lime Green Ink
- Black StazOn Ink, Primary Elements Chalk Queue
- Cream, Kraft and Lime Notecards and Envelopes
- Thin ribbon
- Glue Dots
- Quilling Strips
To create the card, stamp a border of leaves in 2 colors of ink along the edge of a cream notecard.
Tip: Press a 5”X7” sticky Note about a ½” from the edge of the notecard before stamping. When you pull up the Sticky Note, viola…..a perfectly straight line of stamped images. Cut out additional leaves that have been stamped on cream card stock.
Layer green and brown papers on the card and add a message in black ink. Place a knot at the top of the layered papers and add the cut out leaves above the message. Place a strip of brown paper along the stamped border.
TIP: Cutting images is a good TV pastime…it keeps my hands busy and out of the cookie jar. I have a box of stamped images, scissors and a plastic bag (for scraps) right next to the couch.
Here are the full details on the challenge: Use at least one Hero Arts stamp to create a package to present a gift. You can stamp wrapping paper, a tag, a bag, a bow, or whatever your imagination comes up with. Submit your entry to the Hero Arts Flickr Group by Sunday at 11:59 PM PST and tag it with the code word “gift”. (See the FAQ for more on Flickr.) I can’t wait to see how many different ways you come up with to present a gift!
Here are the prizes:
1st place: $50 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
2nd place: $25 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
3rd place: $10 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
