Let’s have a fun Friday

To finish up my week with flowers, I thought it would be fun to play with some of the techniques from this week and mix them up with some Hero Arts accessories. We have so many in our line-up it’s hard to pick just one or two.

So Special

I used markers and misted the flowers and branch images. I mounted the cut out images with Art Flowers and added a my own paper circle flowers.

Brown crayon tree

Crayon Resist tree with pearl accents, make several at a time for quick cards to grab when needed.

And finally, a simple card using Blossom gems on a stamped tree.

    Supplies

I thought I’d leave you with a different type of video. Storage is always an issue for us stampers, scrappers and crafters. I have a very small room as my studio, it’s measures 11’x10’, and I’ve got a ton of accessories to house. I’ve dedicated much time and money over the years searching to find the right type of bins, containers and shelving. After miserable attempts of getting organized, I finally figured out that I was going about it completely wrong.

Here’s what works for me. Start backwards, find a container to fit an item, then find shelving to fit the containers. This is SO much easier than to try to fit your items in a container that’s not the right size onto a shelf that wastes space. A couple of items to consider would be spice racks for tiny items and CD or DVD containers for cardstock and Hero ClearDesign stamps. I’ve taken pictures of my studio and turned it into a video.

Thanks for joining me this week, I have truly enjoyed the company. And for additional Fun this Friday I will do one last PRIZE giveaway. Just leave a comment by tonight at 11:59 PST. If you want (optional of course) tell me about your storage attempts and successes. And if you have any questions, by all means, please ask! :o)

The second card is gorgeous! I’m just starting out in stamping, so I’ve done little in the ways of storage. My husband plans to build me a few tables and such… my room is even smaller than yours and has to house ALL of my craftiness and computer stuff, plus the dog kennel… so I have a feeling there will be a lot of on the wall storage to keep floor space clear.

I have to say that that tree stamp is just gorgeous. Wonder if we can get it in New Zealand. It would make a great background for a mini album on the family tree.

“And now for some unsolicited testimonies: 1. Best Craft Organizer Mini Stackables are heaven on earth. They are what crafters would dream about if we won the Lotto. You can find them at bestscrapbookshelf.com.
    2. T-h-e answer to my storage for Clear Designs dilemma: Kompac Storage Cases at rubberstampingdepot.com.”

Jan - Thanks for introducing me to the Best Craft Mini-Stackables. Their products look fantastic! We’ve been redoing our craft room and haven’t decided yet on permanent desks … although we’ve just installed a wall system. I will definitely be considering the Best Craft “Crafter’s Desk”. It looks fabulous!

I have been stamping cards at the kitchen table and have bits and pieces everywhere as our house is so small. I tried converting one half of the garage into a craft room but it was too dusty so back to the table I went. We are moving house in a couple of months and at the top of the list is a room I can call my own so I can stamp to my hearts content. Thanks for a great website I am new to stamping and greatly admire the talent behind the cards shown and the sharing of tips and ideas. I was impressed with using old spice jars for storage…. Thank you.
