No mistakes about it, we’re having a giveaway today!
Welcome to Watch It Wednesday, where we either show a video or share step-by-step photos with you! Note: To see previous videos, just click on the “Watch It Wednesdays” Category in the sidebar. Today I will share a technique for fixing misspellings when using letter stamps.
Sometimes mistakes are good things. You can create new techniques, find new design ideas and be more unique; but not always. Stamping elements before attaching to a finished piece is the safest way to have a quick easy result. Not following my own advice I discovered this technique for fixing misspelling or rather trying to do too many things at once.
After stamping (and a bit of frustration for not paying attention) I decided that making a mistake should be fun, so I stamped the letters again on coordinating papers and layered the correct letter right over the mistake. I did add letters over additional letters to give it a more “intended to do this” look.
Teenagers love this kind of a card. You can add additional birthday images with a message on each, then place them inside the envelope pocket.
Supplies:
- Happy Uppercase Alphabet
- Sprinkle Cupcake
- Summer Tags
- Gemstones
- Lemon, Hyacinth Notecards
- Other: white cardstock, colored pencils, $, hole punch, ribbon, glue craft knife
- Stamp a cupcake image on white cardstock and color as desired using colored pencils I used watercolor pencils so allow the image to dry before cutting. Add gemstones to the cut out image and mount to the side of a summer tag, adding ribbon to the top.
- Cut an envelope along the side, leaving a 1 ½” pocket. You will have to glue (what was the top) part together. Stamp the message on the pocket in black ink. Add letters from coordinating papers over any mistakes in spelling or just for fun.
- Punch 2 small holes in the top of the pocket and add a folded bill of your choice. Tie a ribbon around the bill to hold it in place, bringing the ends through the holes to create a knot.
- Secure the envelope pocket on the front of a card.
- Stamp on the envelope pocket. Stamp the recipient’s name on the front to personalize it.
Tip: Disposing of those dull craft knife blades can be dangerous. Have you ever reached into the trash to retrieve a piece of paper and ended up meeting a craft blade instead? I keep my used blades in an old pill bottle, it has a child safe lid and when it is full I can safely throw it in the trash. Since pill containers come in large and small sizes this idea works for most any size blades.
The Envelope Challenge continues with decorating take-out boxes…
I have used the flap from two different colored envelopes to punch circles fitting right the flaps. Adding really fancy ribbon across the top of the box makes this packaging look a lot harder than it is.
Stamping “accessories” for gifts is so much fun and can make your gift the first one to be opened. Since the challenge is envelopes I have used an envelope corner at the bottom of the stamped tag. Adding several clever tags filled with hand-stamped greetings makes the gift a personal expression of your feelings.
Finally, here’s a box decorated with envelope scraps and pieces of ribbon
And now for the giveaway! I am giving away five filled take-out boxes. Inside each box you’ll find a Sparkle Clear stamp set, a package of Sparkle Gems, and a package of Summer Tags. Leave a comment on this post to enter the giveaway. We’ll randomly draw the winners and announce them tomorrow, along with the winners of the Bird Challenge!
Until then…

I have been able to find that many stores that carry cards will gladly give you their extra envelopes when they get ready to switch out their supply. I’ve gotten some wonderful pastel envelopes that are terrific to work with, plus they are free!
