Motivation Monday with Shari Carroll
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a fantabulous week-end of stamping fun. Jennifer did such an amazing job of getting us started. Thanks Jennifer! I’ve taken a peek over at flickr and wowzers……there are some great entries!!!
It is Motivation Monday and time to introduce this week’s challenge. If you know me, I’m a collage kind of gal, so this was just bound to happen. To jump start this challenge, I have made a very simple card using the CardArt Kindness Kit.
- Supplies:
I stamped the image onto a piece of Basic Grey Periphery paper, and again onto white cardstock with black ink. I cut out the upper and lower sections of the image on the printed paper and applied them directly on top of image stamped on the white cardstock. I trimmed the panel and put it on a black note card. I added just a single gem to the center of the tiny flourish.
A collage doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming, an image can be mixed with pattern paper and layered as in this example. What I love most about the Hero Arts CardArt and Collage stamps is that they allow the stamper to make choices as to techniques and style while the stamp provides one detailed image to do all the work.
So, back to the Challenge! I would like you to show me your collage art using any Hero Arts Stamp. Feel free to use Collage or CardArt stamps, or make up your own using any image mixed with additional elements. It’s up to you to design a scrapbook layout, card, tag, etc. However you decide to create your collage, all you need to do is feature at least one Hero Arts stamp.
You have until this coming Sunday at 11:59 p.m. PST to enter your projects via Flickr. (Check the FAQ for how to do this.) There will be three prizes given EACH week:
1st place: $50 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
2nd place: $25 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
3rd place: $10 of new Hero Arts stamps + a 2008 catalog
Create your Collage art project and load it onto the Hero Arts Flickr group by Sunday, April 13 at 11:59 p.m. PST. (See the FAQ for more info on the Flickr group). I will randomly pick 3 winners who will be announced here on Thursday, April 17. On that day, we will also share with you some of our favorite project entries!
I can’t wait to see what you all come up with….this is so exciting!!! Please let me know what your favorite collage techniques and stamps are.
Also this week, I’ll do my best to tantalize you with some eye candy we have spotted, storage ideas, a video of a fun collage project (that I will giveaway), a guest artist or two, a new challenge…OH, and on Thursday, the announcement of our FIRST ever Hero Arts Blog Challenge winners! WOOOHOOO!
Until tomorrow, collage away and Enjoy!
Quick Reminder: the Clear Challenge deadline has been extended to Wednesday by 11:59pm PST.

Hi, Shari,
Your card is so elegant. I had to check out that stamp in the HA catalog.
I always enjoy your art & love to talk to you at the HA booth at CHA. I don’t imagine you’ll remember my name but maybe my face. I have a couple cards posted on Flickr. I hope you check them out.

Thanks for your reply, Shari. I posted a couple cards on Flickr. My user name is judesigns7. I have a photo with my account. I’m not too up on how that works but the photos seem to show with comments. I left a comment on Aaron’s post yesterday. Maybe you could see it there.
I’m really enjoying the blog.

Collage is one of my favorite card styles….along with the vintage look. I’ve been so excited to see Hero Arts coming out with these collage stamps.
My favorite stamp of all time for collage work is Old French Writing stamp.
Perfect for collage work!

I love the layering that collage offers! Also, the ability to use many stamps that are normally used apart, but used together to form a terrific collage. Thanks for the fun this week!
